  New Player Bonuses CANCELLED

Updates!
*Summary

Detail
It is my pleasure to announce to you today that a feature/program on GC is being removed, though not because of it being broken or unmaintainable but because for once there is something better in place, I will get to that later

GC has been updated we skipped 1.7 and are now on 2.5 or 3.5 pick your poison.

After a long process and literally years of bugging and asking Stephen, Badwolf has finally gotten coding and database access of GC along with a test server so that we may work on things without destroying all that you love. Which is wonderful and we`re able to do things to GC, though we still need Stephen to move files from the test server to GC itself..

So long Story Short, We have Control over GC, and we wish to bring you updates, though be patient as everything that get touched has to be pretty much 100% rewrote by Badwolf because the code is just in that poor of shape with it`s outdated-ness shoddy patch work and just plain lack of maintenance.

Well then on to the Updates Badwolf and I have been working on.

First off, Fed Voting and Market Withdraw are back, and should be bug free.

You can now Withrdaw posts on the market as soon as they posted (withdraw is also no longer a paid feature)

Secondly, the Market has been tweaked in the following ways:

Post time for resources has been reduced from 20 minutes max to 7 minutes max

If there are no post on the market the default sell price is max, no more “Accidental post at 0”

Food, min. price is 2 max. is 40
Ore, min. price is 1,000 max. is still 10,000
Consumer Goods, min. price is still 1 but the max. price is now 5 (the break even point)
Raw Material, min. price is still 1, the max. price is now 4
Minerals, Min. price is 100, max. price is still 1,000

Further more all but minerals can now be posted in post of 1 billion (not a big difference), and minerals can be posted in batches as large as 50 million.

Thirdly, on colonies

no more 999 or #e* required you can now input up to 6 characters when adding or removing infra

Also, when you attempt to remove housing and you input a number larger than your current housing it will not remove all housing infra allocated to that planet it will default to 1 only after it`s at one will it die completely. This is a temporary fix but still an added layer to make sure you don`t kill off your pop accidentally.

4th and finally new player bonuses

First off, when a new account is made, that player will receive a 7 day free paid , a taste of the bonuses.

When restarting or when a new player joins, Starting planets, resources loyalty and allocated infra will be changed for each race depending on the server below I will provide char

can we get loyalty turns bumped from 3 to 9 please for free? 3 turns at a time takes forever.

I have a suggestion for market: on the CG`s page please inform people that the max. is 2,147,483,647 (or max int32 for geeks :) ) so that people don`t buy more. I think i actually had to pm an admin to clarify this limit for me because i simply forgot and i wondered why i didn`t get any of the CGs i purchased.

Or, better still, if you buy more than what you can store, then just fill up your store and return the rest to the market - that would be easier though, so not sure we want it, but you could write some info when you get to it.

Thanks

I agree with EE. Making clustering that easy would imho take away on the challenge of paying attention to what you`re doing, and sometimes taking chances when out of dp :) Anyway, glad to see the interest in improving the game, thanks guys :)

Well lets just keep in mind, how Easy we want to make GC, i think some of the appeal of GC is the difficulty, so what exactly do we want to sacrifice for the sake of making the game better without making it to simple.

I like Wishe`s idea about planet choice whilst clustering. Its so time consuming and "dangerous" at times to have all 4 - 5 cols in line to cluster. I would however leave the bottom col as the alpha colony :)
A simple anfits check box type thingy would just do fine to cluster...just like killing them is possible as well through this method.

If you increased the price pop pays for cg`s, it increases the cost on market for cg`s

CG producers profit, but taxers are still likely only selling to pop for one more cred than they bought, so no, i dont think it also unfairly benefits tax empires

Guardians don`t gain much profit from CG`s though, and it wouldn`t take much of a price hike to negate the benefits of Guards having CGs. Not unless you also nerf the tax penalty or perhaps give them the ability to increase loyalty.

Definitely, but it would be a buff to tax empires too. Not really something they need unless they were tweaked to compensate.

I do think CG`s should sell at a higher price to pop. Selling at a higher price would increase profits for cg producing empires, thus increasing the odds of someone wanting to do so

Then again, i read your response over again and you do make a good point about how the "out of dp" bonus does provide that nominal bonus. Wasn`t thinking about that in my previous response. It`s so easy to forget, since the "out of dp bonus" is never actually indicated as being part of your income in the income section. So changing the population consumption rate from 5 to 5.1-5.5 is probably unnecessary. But I still think there should be a note about it on the CG market page somewhere, to help the newbs (and even some vets) be more informed in their market choices.

Well my CG empire on slow certainly won`t be complaining. If people want to buy my goods at 5 to promote the CG industry, I won`t stop them. But people should at least be aware that they won`t be making much profits (aside from a small increase in the credit bonus). :)

I think a small bit of flavor text about how CGs work (mainly about how they are consumed at 5 per unit), right in the CG market page, would be a nice website change. That way people who buy at 5 know they are doing it mainly for "CG industry promotion" purposes (essentially giving the profits they would have made at 4 to the miners instead), while others can wait to buy at 4 if they want a real benefit. This would be the easiest change, requiring no more than a few minutes to impliment.

Of course, another option is that the code be modified so that the CGs are sold to the population at a rate of 5.1 - 5.5 per unit (rounded down to the nearest credit). A effectively a 2-10% buff to the CG portion of a tax empire`s income. Not a huge change, but it at least provides a nominal benefit to buying at 5, instead of none at all.

Yet another option is to allow goods to be sold at a decimal rate. So instead of being forced at 4 or 5, you can choose 4.9 (with costs rounded to the nearest credit, if necessary). Not sure how hard this would be, or how much time it would take, but I think it should be added to the priority list somewhere. I`m sure this would be a welcome change if the CG market were in a state other than "empty".

something like that the html needs to be redone, and that`s something i`m slowly getting to.

Because it helps promote people to go a CG route Rag, small as it may be, on top of that as TBK pointed out with out of dp bonus you would actually profit slightly by having GCs at 5, but long story short is it really doesn`t hurt anyone, will only help promote industry as a path and most likely prices won`t stay at 5.

Pete, i have the same issue on firefox, BW hasn`t touched the font, it`s just how badly the game is coded that as browsers get better they stop compensating for the horrible coding.

Im unsure whether you changed the font, or its my browser that has changed it, or it is just my sight that has become worse due to my slowly increasing age. Fact is I notice all the time i have a hard time reading the letters on my 14.4" screen..

Why would you want to buy goods at 5? Seems kinda silly to me.

Well I`m pleased to see this. As I had previously stated I wouldn`t fund a game which had been abandoned in the way this had I`m pleased to say this change has persuaded me to cough up for a set of paid coupons. In anticipation many thanks to EE and BW for the work I`m sure they are going to put into this.
