Well in the past there`s been some talk about the uselessness of the light class so I propose these designs to replace the light class, and really the only neutral ships we are lacking is a missile damage neutral class so this is it. I would have named them L class but that was taken, P class would have also been nice since it also plays off of Light albeit not the definition of light intended by the light class so they will be called E. Class which stands For Electromagnetic w/e enough with the names

The Nova is inspired by guards L. class a missile boat with decent range a hull which is a oddity for a missile ship

The Pulsar was inspired by the Tiger, which is the most overpowered pure missile boat around, it`s a weaker version lacking both no defense and no retal, and also lacks shielding of any kind which makes it unique but it has enough hull and range to let it do its job.

The Quasar is inspired by the Terran P class obviously. This ship will be the Paid ship of the group .33 hull to pr and mostly negative shields make this ship look a bit pathetic but this ship give everyone the opportunity to have a 10 range ship and a nearly a 1:1 damage to pr ratio.

Also I know some people are fond of the LFD, so if there`s enough people who want to we could probably keep the LFD and just rename it like the C. Libra or something and attach it to C class research.

So any how talk and discuss and test and ect and provide me with some kind of feed back.

Well. I see this thread and I`m for it, but I`m concerned about the fact of who`s it available to. It should be available to everyone. OR we could have a new race...?

LFD needs to be improved considering the high cost of buying the minerals involved. Either lower upkeep and build cost or something along those lines, or maybe some minor positive tweaks to some of the shields without taking anything away.

that`s also an idea pete but there problem i see there, is having to give out the ship each time any time anyone restarts or starts up a new account and that would add up to alot of work and alot of people having to rely on the schedule of the staff for ships.

i would love to make a variant of each neutral ship for each race. One issue is there`s just not enough space to make variants, the UW ships will leave us with just a handful of slots. The other real issue is, unlike with UW ships, All the Neutrals are tied to specific research and all races share that research and there`s no way we could filter out which races gets what ships... so that would mean the staff would have to to give each and every person their ships

Though what could be done is the neutrals could be tied into racial research, though for viral i guess they`d get everything for researching Koh. and then we`d need to disable the neutral research or it would cause problems due to to many ships on one account.....and that would only be a solution for brand new accounts.

there`d be no hope of removing current neutrals from current accounts sadly it takes an immense amount of work to remove a single ship that has been researched much less removing a lot of ships and we`d have to go through each account one at a time.

Another solution to the upkeep issue you are considering would be to do the same as you have been doing with th UW ships... Instead of making 4 different ships, make 1 ship with 4 different upkeeps, and distribute them appropriately...

Or.. make two ships with two upkeeps. One that is low for marauders, collectives and guards and one that is high for the rest.

actually, where minerals are concerned, these are actually cheaper than straf in the short run(which is a given since they probably wouldn`t live long)

true, but that`s pyths fault for being weak to missile, Pyth also builds about 2x as fast as all these and cost much less. Though perhaps the ranges could be lowered by one on each, i guess the question then becomes how useful do we want these ships to be, i certainly don`t want races forsaking their racial ships in favor of these, i also don`t want to replace Light class with something equally as useless either...

Options right now i see is

lower the upkeep, which makes them more of a possibility to be use by say guard and maru, the down side would be miners and perhaps terrans would probably make these their ships of choice for all their missile needs

Increase Upkeep, which would probably wouldn`t change anything unless their upkeeps were 1.5....but then i highly doubt anyone but miners terrans and virals would even consider using them unless a guard had alot of cash to burn.

Lowering the range on all, wouldn`t change a whole lot but it would affect their performance some unless the range drop would be more than 1..

we could make the BR of the ships slower, perhaps making them someone between 14k-20k for each which would make any OP`d part they may play would be diminished because their turn efficiency would drop. though this would also limit their use on slower servers.

we could also customize changes tailoring them to specific ships, for instants the Aurora is the ship that really concerns me, since it is 7 range, and has a mutli damage type, i think range 6 would be better would be better forcing it to take more of a role as a flanker, but not to become a replace for miners lyth for some people and it would also make it more vulnerable to fez

i don`t foresee many problems with the Nova, it`s range is nominal and it`s damage to pr ratio is low for a missile boat and the hull is ok

The Pulsar originally had no defense and no retal and it`s hull was only 1200, but during testing it was to resilient it could even win attacking most other 9 range ships on careful or even normal and walking away with a win. So I decided to remove no retal and no defense and boost it`s hull a little to compensate. It`s still strong but can be flank raped also, also having no shields makes it a no brainer to counter, just use what ever has a good ecm shielding and swing

with The quasar I just wanted to give everyone the opportunity to have a 10 range ship. It`s only real function would be to serve as an anti destroyer platform, it also leaves terran still the champ in range battles with thor... the ship has decent damage and the range is impressive but with it`s hull to pr being 1/3rd and it`s shields being so horrible it`s effectively made of wet tissue paper, so it performs similar to thor in all aspects

I also feel a lot of problems these ships could create would be balanced out by the fact that everyone has strafez, fodder to block, runner/the Royals to kill and fez is still much cheaper than the E class and builds faster even though you`d only need the pr to render all but Aurora useless

also each race generally has few ships which could provide decent protection against this class

I`m a little uncomfortable with all of these long ranged ships joining the fray to be honest, especially because ships like the Pyth look like they`ll be toast to any of these
